Thankful

Bridget, Me and Kelly sang in Manitou at the 1999 St.Olaf Christmas Concert

Bridget and I loved to pretend like we were "Ghetto"...we thought we were funny

We had a lovely time in Minnesota with friends and family this weekend. My parents recently moved to Northfield, Minnesota...where my husband and I met and went to college.  While spending a great deal of time in Northfield this weekend my memory was flooded with memories of my dear friend Bridget who passed away a little over a year ago.  As I passed by Ragstock I chuckled remembering the time we went there to find our "Ghetto" outfits. Walking by Cuts on the Cannon I remembered the time Bridget, Kelly and I walked there to get our haircut freshman year and we all came out with the same hairstyle. And every time I walk by the bookstore in the student center I am reminded of the many hillarious hours we spent together at KSTO with our radio show that featured silly segments such as "name that boy-band" and dedicated songs like "Sarah" to one of our only known listeners.  I am so thankful Bridget was a part of my life and such a huge part of my college experience.  When I think of Bridget and her passionate but short life I am reminded to be thankful for all of the blessings in my life and to savor every moment with the people I hold dear to me.

Today I am so thankful for...

Gunnar's two sets of grandparents who clearly are as enamored with him as John and I are.

An incredible grandmother ("Besta" or great grandma to Gunnar) who inspires me everytime I even think of her. Who made us feel so special today by hosting an elegant brunch for our family after church.

My dearest talented Aunt Pam and cousins Emy and Devon for meeting us today on our way out of town despite their busy schedules.

Seeing dear college friends: Lisa and Nicole whom I hadn't seen in almost 4 years...and finally meeting Lisa's beau and now husband Phil (I definitely approve!).

One amazing husband who kept his cool and drove us safely home through torrential rainstorms...with our precious little cargo asleep in the backseat.

My kind sister who is always thoughtful and lending us helpful things and offering much needed advice (and who is mother to the cutest most perfect role model Gunnar could ever have).

My sweet little boy who happens to be a terrific traveler...he's my sunshine.

  1. Way Sweet! My heart still hurts for Bridget sometimes, even though I didn't know her well. So, so sad.
