Saturday in the Park with G

So today we were bound and determined to show this baby some Chicago Culture! First stop...Millenium Park. The last time we visited this iconic Chicago scene Gunnar was in my tummy and 3 weeks away from joining the world. So G got to see the Bean from the outside today!

Next Stop? The Chicago Institute of Art. This was a spur of the moment decision and we were sort of kicking ourselves for not picking up the free passes from the Library. $36 may not seem like much but it's hard to swallow when you think you could have gone for free. So I had my old student ID out and determined to pay a slightly lower admission fee for the family when the guy at the desk spotted my Bank of America Debit Card...he said "Oh you're a Bank of America card holder? Did you know the first Saturday of every month is free for Bank of America customers?"  NO!!!...Boy were we Lucky! We felt so awesome about it we gave them a $20 donation anyway! Great art at this museum! Packed with Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Cezanne...but my personal fav was Georges Seurat's 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte' or better known to us theater geeks as...
Saturday at the Museum with G
"That painting from Sunday in the Park with George".  We also thought Gunnar would make an excellent installment to the contemporary wing...since it seems, once again, stapling carpet on the wall counts as art...well then why can't I get paid for my beautiful baby in the stroller exhibit? I mean he is a true work of art!

And to cap off the evening...a fabulous dinner with friends! Gunnar might have gone to bed 3 hours later than usual...but it was worth it. An awesome day!

  1. We LOVE the Art Institute in Chicago!! I think Devon was about 2 weeks old when she had her first visit there. Last year I took pics of my kids in front of that same Seurat Sunday in the Park, posed in Ferris Bueller style.
