Old Friends, New Friends...

Make new friends
But keep the Old
One is Silver and the other Gold

It's been 3 years since I've seen my best friend from High School. Kelly and I were inseparable in High School...We always said we'd marry twins in a double wedding by the time we were 22, move into a conjoined duplex and have babies by the time we were 23. Ha! Well that didn't happen. But I'm so glad we're still in touch...and I'm so glad I got to spend some quality time with her (and her charming husband Brian, and gorgeous baby Kenna) when we were back in Colorado this week.

We may not have married twins. And we may not share a duplex. And we may not be 23...but we do have babies that are merely 3 weeks apart.  Kenna was supposed to be born around Thanksgiving, but she decided to come 6 weeks early (and thankfully she was as healthy as can be), so although she is gestationally younger than G, she is actually 3 weeks older.  It has been so fun comparing and sharing mommyhood stories with Kelly...and it was TOO fun to get our babies together this week! It made me want to pack our bags and move to Denver just so we could do this everyday!

G hasn't spent much time with any baby close to his age...it was hillarious to watch these two connect...and to witness how different babies can be. Kenna seems to be very introverted and observant...taking in everything....while Gunnar is hyperactive and well...crazy! Kenna's features are petite and small yet solid...Gunnar looked huge next to her. It's amazing the love that I felt for Kenna... instantly...it surprised me.  Sort of that love that an aunt feels for her niece/nephew...because of my closeness to Kelly, I imagine.

We spent a lovely afternoon with Kelly and Kenna at the Denver Zoo and a day/night up in the mountains (Frisco) with Kelly, Brian and Kenna.

I only hope we can get these two love-bugs together a couple times a year...it'll will be amazing to see them grow. Let's do this again soon Kelly...Love you!!!

  1. That is so odd that they're not related. To me, they look like fraternal twins - and REALLY close ones at that!

  2. Yay! I love all the pictures. I'll post mine soon. We had so much fun having you all here and getting to meet sweet little G. Hope we get to do it again soon. So does Kenna...she slept til 10:30 this morning after their little talk. ;)
