Feeling Friendless...

I think it's probably time to start going to more "mom" groups or something. Though for some reason the thought of that sort of repulses me.  Please don't take offense...I know...I'm a mom and I like other moms... I guess I'm just craving a social environment with conversations that involve anything other than the topic of " kid does this...".

It's not that I haven't been social this week...I've had plenty of visitors and an action packed beginning of the week...but suddenly this weekend I find myself a little lonelier than usual.

Almost everyone I hang out with regularly in the Chicago area is out of town on vacation...and I think that thought has left me feeling quite down.

Don't get me wrong...I love hanging out with my baby boy and John is a great companion when he's not glued to the computer, the tv, his ipod or his phone. It would just be nice to know there are more options out there...people to see...human conversations...

Our church is filled with young families who never stick around long enough to talk to...rushing home for nap time I'm sure...

I guess I sort of feel like a loser begging for friends...I hope I'm not.  I know a good amount of people in the Chicago's just harder to see everyone when I'm tied to a nap schedule and my "visiting hours" are during the day when most people I know have jobs.

Part of me wishes we still lived in New York...where I feel like I have enough friends to spend a weekend with someone different every week out of the year...Where the population is more dense and the distance needed to travel to see someone is only a short train ride away...and there's always Central Park...where everyone meets. But then again...we'd be living in a shoebox.

I sort of feel like I'm in a locked off community with little access to the inside world.
I don't mean to write this post for pity...I just wanted to be honest and share how I really feel...

  1. I could have written this... seriously... I get together with my parents a lot just to get out of the house and have some adult conversation!
